Programme Outline

The online MBA has been carefully structured to meet its objectives in a flexible way, allowing each student to adapt the programme to their professional interests and learning style. To complete the MBA, you must successfully complete six taught modules plus a final dissertation.

Introductory (Not for Credit)

Induction

Your studies begin with an orientation module designed to help you adapt to the online environment and understand the programme structure. While it does not carry credits, it introduces you to academic writing, library resources, OnlineCampus, and support services, ensuring you are fully prepared for postgraduate study.

Stage 1 (120 Credits – Six Modules)

Core Modules

  • Organisational Behaviour
Explores how individuals and groups function within organisations, addressing motivation, communication, leadership, conflict, organisational culture, and change management. Through real-world case studies, students learn to make effective decisions that directly impact the workplace.
  • Marketing Management
Examines the principles of marketing, from segmentation and research to international strategy and customer focus. Using applied projects such as building a marketing plan for a company, students learn to redefine industries and innovate within competitive environments.
  • Financial Management
Provides a strong foundation in financial accounting, budgeting, and management accounts. This module equips managers with the skills to evaluate financial performance and ensure sustainable profitability.
  • Enterprise Ethics and Sustainability
Investigates ethical decision-making, social responsibility, and sustainable business practices. The module connects directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and emphasises the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of modern enterprise.

Electives (Choose One):

  • Information Management
Focuses on the manager’s role in harnessing technology and information systems, covering areas such as cloud computing, open-source software, and social media. Students learn how to apply information management within a strategic organisational context.
  • Corporate Strategy and Competitiveness
Based on the frameworks of Professor Michael Porter and the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard Business School. Includes a one-week residency in Zürich, Switzerland. The module examines competitiveness from firm-level strategy to national and regional economic development.

Final Capstone (Compulsory):

  • Strategic Management
Challenges students to think critically about long-term strategy formulation, implementation, and sustainability. Through analysis of major case studies (e.g., Facebook, Kellogg, Google) and the use of strategic tools such as Porter’s Five Forces, students develop the skills to craft and execute effective strategies.

Stage 2 (60 Credits – Dissertation)

Dissertation

The dissertation is an individual research project that allows you to investigate a complex business issue in depth. Students apply appropriate research methods, critically analyse literature and data, and demonstrate how their findings contribute to the broader themes of the MBA.

Exit Awards:

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Management Studies – awarded after 60 credits (three modules).
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies – awarded after 120 credits (six modules, including the residency).
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) – awarded after 180 credits, including successful completion of the dissertation.
